I have blogged every single wedding I have ever shot within 3 or 4 days of the event. And over the years of blogging each and every wedding, I have learned a few secrets to publishing blogs quickly but also making them BEAUTIFUL.
No time to read now? Pin for later!
PREP THE BLOG BEFOREHAND
I do AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE to get anything done that I can BEFORE the wedding day that can make it a smooth process for publishing! For example, each blog that I post has links to any and all vendors that I can get from my couple. And I’m definitely NOT getting this information on the wedding day, I’m getting it beforehand!
I send my brides a pre-wedding questionnaire (which you can purchase here!) about 4 weeks out from the wedding to learn their preferences for the wedding day, learn the colors, family and wedding party names, EVERYTHING! Including vendors! Then I make sure I link those in the body of my blog post so then all I have to do is add the photos and write after the wedding day. (*Bonus* I also grab the Instagram handles and get those links ready for posting to social too!)
USE LR WEB GALLERY TO CHECK FOR CONSISTENCY
Did you know Lightroom has a feature that helps you view a bunch of selected photos all side by side to check for consistency? An editor shared this secret and it changed my LIFE. If you’ve never used the “Gallery” tab, you’ll be using it now! My personal private editor, Kristen Neiditch, shared this Lightroom hack!
You can head to her blog post on this with the steps on how to set it up in your LR interface!
DON’T OVERSTUFF // QUALITY OVER QUANTITY
LESS IS MORE, PEOPLE. I would much rather see a heavily curated blog post with only the most beautiful images that showcase the wedding day in the most beautiful way than see something that is just stuffed to the brim with unnecessary images just to make it look FULL. This is your chance to show off your work like the badass artist you are!! Curate the photos to be an aesthetically pleasing showcase of the best images of the day that truly tell the story. Don’t forget you are an ARTIST. So only show the best images that will start to attract your ideal client!
