A Winter Union 12 Wedding | Columbia City, IN
When I walked into the house to see the bride and start shooting this Union 12 wedding, I walked into the most peaceful bridal suite ever. Jordian’s sweet sister was finishing up the bridal hair, her bridesmaids were getting ready themselves and there was no music. Just a soft, quiet room full of girls getting ready! The atmosphere was joyful and calm. I had to admit to her “this is the calmest bridal suite I’ve ever walked into!” So calm, in fact, that when I started shooting details, I had to ask her to play some music or something because all I could hear was my shutter! (and my anxious breathing haha)
Leading up to their day, I was always looking at the weather. I thought, ‘ya know if we can get some sun and upper 40’s, we can totally handle outdoor, natural light portraits!’ Well, about a week before their day, the news said “ARCTIC CHILL COMING THROUGH THE MIDWEST” 😐 Oh. Lovely.
I was prepared to shoot indoors but I definitely wanted to shoot outdoors more (and Jordian was down to go outside too). So their day came and it was about 40 and sunny, but by the time First Look came around, it was overcast and I was grateful for that so I could place them near doors for portraits then head back inside if she gets too cold. Jordian was such a trooper (and thankfully her sherpa jacket was perfect for this wintery day!) for sticking it out when I know her tiny frame was freezing but it was totally worth it because those are their best portraits!!

The bouquets were made by the bride and bridesmaids! The bridal bouquet was made by the florist but the girls got to make their own!
Not a staged moment, this was the sweetest thing I saw all day. Just a genuine embrace as husband and wife!
