Goodness, gracious… The weather really threw this sweet couple’s engagement photos for a loop! The week before Kendra and Andrew’s session, we had scheduled to shoot during what happened to be the precise TWO-HOUR SEGMENT OF DOWNPOUR that we’d had in weeks! 😐 As you can assume, yes, I was very frustrated. And I know Kendra was so disappointed, it broke my heart!

So our reschedule date came and boy it was HOT. I mean, I definitely sweat any traces of makeup clean off in a matter of minutes! I always start my sessions with a little pep talk to my couple. I tell them what they can expect, what my plan is in regards to how much daylight we have, etc. I could tell these two were a little hesitant, somewhat quiet (unlike me, haha!) but I reassured them that 1. they looked GREAT and 2. this is super casual, just us hanging out, getting to know each other before the wedding day!

I know for a fact they thought I was C R A Z Y during this session. It didn’t take me long to have them standing in some landscaping, I was shooting through flowers, looking like a creeper in the bushes, ya know… typical Courtney shooting behavior. But NOW I’m happy to show them what I was seeing through MY POINT OF VIEW.

Their images are jam-packed full of foreground elements. I LOVE FOREGROUND in my images to not only make it interesting but HIDE distractions! When you’re shooting in a downtown environment, you have to a lot to work around–cars, trash cans, signs, all kinds of stuff! And luckily, I found two big bushes of pink roses and white hydrangeas and ya girl, here, was in heaven!

Kendra works out like crazy and I’m seriously jealous of her arms (and quite honestly, her booty, too! haha) Talk about GOALS! Girl, your dress better be showing off what ya mama gave ya!

I’m obsessed with this romper, it’s SO freaking cute! I love it when my couples’ “casual” outfit is still pretty dressy. Kendra knocked it out of the park with her outfits!

Our second location gave me all the feels. I love a glowy, open field at sunset!
