This backyard lakeside wedding is full of so many lovely details — from the string lights above the dance floor to the delicate details on the head table. It features peony-filled bouquets with accents of blush pink, light sage green bridesmaids’ dresses, linen suits on the groomsmen and a hexagon alter.
Everything about this day was all about celebration! Katie and Nick were married in South Bend on a beautiful snowy afternoon in February (see that wedding here) after they had found out Katie’s mother had fallen ill. The plan after that day was to always have the original date to celebrate with friends and have the wedding celebration they had been planning for months. We know Debbie was watching over because she held the rain off through the ceremony which was absolutely gorgeous!
But the rain did come eventually… and boy did it rain! For a solid 20 minutes, it was a downpour. But that did not kill Katie’s spirit… literally, NOTHING CAN. She is the most joyful person I have ever met with the most optimism, it’s contagious! Even after the downpour, hair up in a claw clip, bridal gown with 6 inches of mud at the bottom, this girl did not stop partying. It was an absolute blast.
There were several times during the reception that I actually felt like a guest, mingling with her friends and at one point my face hurt from laughing so hard when Cher came on and the groom’s dad busted out a Cher t-shirt! (that’s a long story, but my goodness, these people are an absolute blast to be around!). It is safe to say, I will NEVER forget this wedding, it is truly one for the books!
To the newlyweds, Mrs. & Dr. Goldsmith,
You, your wonderful family and your sweet friends have made me feel like family from the start. It truly was an honor to serve you both during such a tough but joyful season. I am so blessed to have been able to spend the extra time with you as you celebrate your marriage among friends! This day was truly so special and I loved being a part of it! Enjoy my favorites from your wedding celebration!

Backstory: This is the groom’s sister and her fiance and they were the flower girl and boy for the ceremony — they also had some extra special treats for the adults haha (Fireball shots!)
A few bride and groom portraits with Katie’s veil before the rain came! (and boy, it came lol!)
I just loved the dance floor set up with the string lights above!
So after it rained… HARD for a solid 20 minutes. I mean we had tents blowing, food getting wet but I will tell you one thing about this girl, NOTHING BREAKS HER SPIRIT! She was READY to party!!
I learned about a drinking game called “Rattlin’ Bog” which is like what people do with Thunderstruck but it’s way more fun!!
