Fort Collins, Colorado Destination Wedding | Horsetooth Reservoir

Nate proposed to me the weekend of my birthday in 2016. He took me to breakfast and when we got home he gave me an envelope which told me to get ready for the day. That envelope led me to another envelope which always was being held by a family member or dear friend to us. The envelopes also had a picture in them which were truly special. It was a giant scavenger hunt around the city which led me to different spots that meant something special to us. The final clue was one of the bridges on the canal in Indianapolis, where he was with the final clue and got down on one knee. Obviously, I said YESS! — MacKenzie

It’s amazing how things work out. It’s like God knows all the envelopes you will be led to, who will be holding it and when you’ll get to each one. He truly has a plan for each and every one of us and for me to have the opportunity to shoot this wedding, a lot of things had to go just the way they did for it to happen.

I have known Nate since college and we’ve been good friends for a while now! But if I hadn’t fallen in love with his cousin, we may not have stayed that close of friends. Nate and Kenzie were engaged for a little while and a year into my photography career, they ask me to shoot their wedding IN COLORADO! It was like they were just waiting for me to be the one to shoot their wedding! (haha doubtful) But anyway, I was BEYOND thrilled and absolutely honored. I remember when I thanked them over and over, Nate said, “I mean, we wouldn’t really want anyone else.”

These two are some of the most adventurous people I know (Check out their outdoorsy engagement session here!) and it completely made sense when they said they wanted to have a Fort Collins destination wedding. Kenzie is not a girlie-girl and Nate is a very simple man who really just wanted to marry the girl of his dreams.

Fort Collins showered their day with the most glorious weather. We scouted out the location for the nuptials the night before and it was almost like this spot was made for weddings because it was out on this little ledge just big enough for about 25 people with a great view in the background. The sun was shining bright, my best friend, Nikki, had the music queued and we all gathered as they read their own vows and committed a lifetime to each other in front of friends and family. After the ceremony, we all headed out to New Belgium Brewery for post-wedding beers and enjoy the celebration of two becoming one!

Mr. and Mrs. Rudicel, it was truly an honor to be part of your day and I thank you again for letting me join. I hope you enjoy reliving your day through your images and enjoy the rest of your honeymoon! Cheers!
