“I didn’t just want to take their pictures, I wanted to knock their socks off.”
Your Client Experience is the number one way to improve your business. We’ve all heard “the customer is king” … “it takes months to find a customer and seconds to lose them” … “Under-Promise, Over-Deliver” … If you haven’t already heard these phrases over and over as a service-based business then now is the time to learn about them!
No time to read now? Pin for later!
From the very start of my business, client experience was my #1 focus. I didn’t just want to take their pictures, I wanted to knock their socks off! In today’s world, customer service is more important than ever. So let’s get into three ways you can improve your client experience!
1. Exceed Expectations
Even if you know your shutter happy and always end up with 70 great images that you deliver from a portrait session, NEVER tell them that up front. Always inform your clients that you’ll deliver a standard number of images: “20-30 high-resolution images delivered” and then WOW them with 50!
I honestly never understood why photographers don’t give all the best images from a session because I feel like charging for extra images just creates more work for you in the end but I think that’s a topic for another day…
2. Give Back 3 – 5% of Their Package Total
No, not like a rebate … but GIFTS! This is honestly one of my favorite parts of my business! I seriously spoil the crap out of my brides! My welcome package is the first of my gift experience. As soon as my bride books, she receives my Bridal Guide, a 100-page magazine with all sorts of education on how to prepare for her wedding day, a ring dish and a handwritten card!
3. Educate Your Clients
KNOWLEDGE IS POWER. And when your clients feel prepared for their session or wedding day then they feel confident and comfortable in front of the camera and empowered to make the right decisions. Not only that, it actually saves you from the headaches and stress that come with poorly planned wedding days! By educating my clients, I have brides create timelines that give me enough time for portraits, details and even squeezing in sunset portraits! Education for your clients creates the ultimate client experience.
