Make your Wedding Invitation Suite look high-end for practically nothing!

As you may know, I am a wedding photographer but if you haven’t figured it out yet, I’m ALSO planning my own wedding. It really has been fun planning and creating a day that is simple and beautiful! As a wedding photographer, I love shooting the details of the day, they really help tell the story! And it really puts a cherry on top when my brides appreciate the pretty little details, too! (Honestly, on wedding days, I use whatever I’ve got around to make any brides’ details look as high-end as I can!)

So I am 100% right-brain: a creative. I love graphic and home design, party planning and decorating, crafty and DIY projects — basically anything that gets my creative itch scratched! So naturally, I am loving all the little details I’m able to add into my wedding day but I’m not trying to break the bank. #brideonabudget!

This may be the start of a little mini-series of blogs to share my creative and DIY projects to make my wedding just a little extra special! For starters, here are a few ways to jazz up your wedding invitation suite!

Boring invitation suite, huh? Now obviously, not every invitation is white with black letters (mine is though haha) and on a wedding day, I would add some greenery or flowers from the bride’s bouquet and maybe add her earrings and rings in there, too (Like my examples above!) But still, I like to keep things simple so if I can add a little pizazz to the suite itself, I will!

1. A SINGLE ENVELOPE LINER

I love the look of envelope liners but thought they were pretty much pointless to send out–they just end up in the trash! But I wanted it anyway for my pictures so I made ONE to include with my invitation suite for my photographer to use on the wedding day!

FIRST – go to Michael’s, Hobby Lobby or any crafty store and go to the scrapbook aisle! Most sheets are $0.79 each, some get up to $1.99 — Pick out some paper that matches your wedding day style! I grabbed a couple to match my wedding and also a few to match the Rose Courts brand 🙂 Pink Watercolor Floral

Then trace your envelope stopping about an inch from the bottom (it doesn’t really need to go all the way to the bottom of the envelope)

And cut! It will end up being a little too big to fit into the envelope, so you’ll have to cut a smidge off each side (about 1/8 inch) to get it to fit!

Put a smudge of a glue stick to keep it in place and voila! How cute! Just a little extra somethin’ to dress up your invitation suite!

And look at how lovely a background it makes for the close-ups of details, I love this pairing below!

Above and beyond: if you like to paint or know someone who does, use a handmade watercolor painting for your envelope liner!

2. A COLORED ENVELOPE

Another easy way to spice it up is a colored envelope! Now, there’s no need to go buy 300 colored envelopes but if you keep your eye out, those craft stores I mentioned above will also have little bundles of colored envelopes, grab one that matches your wedding colors!

Quick Tip: One thing I might add with this one to maybe think about a simple envelope liner if you do a colored envelope

Extra tip: Include an envelope addressed to someone special in a nice calligraphy or script font! It adds some class and completeness to your suite!

3. A WAX SEAL

I really didn’t think I would like the wax seal as much as I did! It was a little extra work but honestly, at the end of addressing all my invites, I was a little sad to have it done, it kind of became therapeutic haha! But I really loved how it turned out, it really classed up my invites! I got my wax seal at Michael’s for about $8 — just an R for my new last name (and also goes with Rose Courts, so a total win over here!) and it’s actually smaller than most “normal” stamps you find on Etsy which I liked because it used less wax! And I got the wax on Amazon for like $10 and I didn’t even use it all! (Pictured is “Champagne Gold”)

Quick tip: If you do a wax seal on your invites, make extras on wax paper and peel them off. Throw those into your package with all the invitation suite pieces for your photographer use in photos!

Check out that metallic gold liner! $1.79 at Michael’s for that sheet! I think that’s the one I’m going with for my wedding invitation suite, with a white envelope!

I hope this gave some inspiration to some of those creative brides’-to-be out there! I will definitely try to continue sharing my DIY Wedding Projects all throughout my planning process!
